Are you an avid tea drinker? Do you always have excess teabags at home that you do not want to throw away? There are actually many benefits of tea. It can be used for various beauty, garden and home purposes. Here are some of them:
1. De-puff and soothe tired eyes
If your eyes are puffy from crying, staying up all night or from a night of partying and booze, a bag of tea is perfect to relieve ache and puffiness. Just soak the teabags in warm water for a minute or two. Let it cool a little just enough for you to tolerate the heat over your eyes. Let it stay for about 20 minutes.
2. Treatment for sunburn
Sunburns can be pretty painful. It can really sting. Some even needs to take painkillers to relieve the pain. However, an easier way to cool down sunburn (or any other minor burn) is by applying a wet and cooled (preferably refrigerated) teabag into the affected area. For largely affected areas, soak some teabags in your bath water, and then soak your body in a bathtub.
3. Cover gray hair
Remember how tea can stain teeth? You can use it to your advantage by covering gray and white hair. Boil a cup of water and steep three teabags. Add sage and rosemary. Let it stand overnight. Strain in the morning. Pour inside a spray bottle. Soak hair concentrating on gray and white areas. Let it stay, occasionally blotting with a dark towel. Do not rinse. Repeat until desired result is achieved.
4. Meat tenderizer
Many people are not aware that black tea can be used to tenderized meat. To make the tenderizer, steep four tablespoons of black tea in warm water for five minutes. Add a half cup of brown sugar. Dissolve completely and pour over seasoned meat before putting it inside the oven. Bake as usual.
5. Mirror and glass cleaner
Tea works as an effective mirror and glass cleaner. Dip a clean cloth in tea-infused water and wipe on mirrors and glass. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
6. Hasten decomposition
If you are into gardening, tea can be used to speed up the decomposition process of your compost pile. Brew some strong tea and pour over your compost pile. The acid found in tea will make it easier for bacteria to grow and multiply, thus, hastening decomposition.
7. Wood furniture and floor cleaner
Due to tea’s brown color, it can make wooden furniture and floors more vibrant. Prepare a liter of water for boiling. Add a few teabags. Dip a cloth in the solution and wipe over furniture or use a mop to clean wooden floors.
There are benefits tea could bring. It is not only a beverage enjoyed by many but also serves as quick remedies and solutions for household and beauty problems. It would be a good idea to store a box in your pantry in case the need for it arises.
