Why are your parents so strict?

American-Iranian children who grow up in American are stuck between two cultures.  When you tell your parents you are going to a friends house, your parents often call your friends parents to confirm and thank them for having you.  Your parents love you so much they never want you to leave.  Most typical parents say one day a week with friends the rest is to study and be with your family.  Making it very easy for your parents to say “Why are your parents so strict?”.
